Eligibility Requirements

ELIGIBILITY FOR DEFENSIVE DRIVING SCHOOL

1. You have a valid government – issued driver license or official state or federal photo id card.
    
2. You have not attended a defensive driving class within the last 24 months.
    
3. The complaint has not already been set for a hearing or trial.
    
4. You were cited for a civil traffic moving violation that did not involve serious injury or a fatality.
    
5. If you have a commercial drivers license, you are NOT eligible.
    
6. Payment must be made prior to starting your course.

YOU MUST REGISTER, PAY FOR AND COMPLETE THE CLASS 7 DAYS BEFORE
YOUR COURT APPEARANCE DATE.  

UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF CLASS:

1. Complaint is dismissed
    
2. No points are assessed by M.V.D.
    
3. No further fine is imposed

If you receive more than one charge on your Complaint, the Defensive Driving program option is available for only ONE of the eligible minor traffic charges. All other violations must be taken care of with the Court on or before your Court Appearance date.
